I’m talking about the me-time kind. The “Well this has been a week–I better just relax now” kind. One of the first things I think about when it comes to skincare is spa type treatments like face masks. From pre-teen land on, the most self indulgent moments are usually pictured with a nice mask treatment on. Over the years I’ve tried many types, from sheet masks to clay masks to foaming- the possibilities are endless it seems. Masks are also a great way to use actives with minimal irritation as you just rinse it off after a few minutes.
Some treatments can be more psychological in their effect. The cute zebra sheet face masks may not REALLY make my skin better but it is going to amuse me and give me a moment to relax. I’ve come to realize that some masks are for those moments and so I’ll always be open to trying many but these are my go-tos.
It’s no secret that I’m in love with all things NOLASKINSENTIALS. In my previous Vitamin C post, I mentioned that I found them on IG while searching for a special treat mask. If you want to explore the brand they make it easy to ask questions and see what products may work best for you with their skin quizzes. Their line is filled with beautiful formulas and after using them for a few months- I have to say that I have never been happier with my skin.
So naturally all my favorite masks listed here come from them. Whether you’re looking to hydrate, detox, or exfoliate—they have got you covered.
First I have the OH WHALE AQUA MASK

My first product purchase from NOLASKINSENTIALS, this one is special to me. The ingredients include butterfly pea flower (which adds to its gorgeous color) , sea buckthorn oil, seaweed, algae, chlorophyll with french green and earth clay. All of these working together to give your skin a boost of antioxidants while the clays help keep impurities at bay. Though it is a fantastic end of the day mask, my favorite way to use it is post workout. I store it in the fridge to keep it extra cool. After I get super tomato faced, I wash my face and slather this on. Then I leave it on while I shower and then rinse it off clean. It’s such a refreshing feel. It also has such a beautiful skin softening effect. Buy it here.
Next up is the PUMPKIN ENZYME MASK

I gotta say it-It is such a battle not to eat this one. It literally feels as though you are putting pumpkin pie on your face. Anyway, this mask is one of my favorite treatments for brightening up skin tone, clearing congested pores and bringing on the GLOW! A great once-to-twice a week mask, it’s especially great at keeping dreaded “MASKNE” (acne caused by mask wearing humidity) from taking hold. This plus their Brightening-C Serum are a super duo btw. The ingredients include 10% glycolic acid, hemp oil and pumpkin enzymes which work together to unveil clearer skin as well as nourish it. BONUS: It is perfect for those who love anything reminiscent of spooky season. I use it every Friday during FINAL EXAM Horror Trivia run by my friends Ted Geoghegan & Michael Gingold. What can I say, I’m a fall baby- this mask was made for me. Buy it here.
And last but not least the GLYCOLIC INTENSIVE MASK

A sweetheart in mask form. The Glycolic Intensive Mask is a newer favorite of mine. If you love the Pumpkin Mask but want something a little more gentle–this one’s for you. I don’t know about you but sometimes my skin can get a little more sensitive. So if I want to keep up with my weekly exfoliation but not have a skin freak-out during those times–I reach for this. The Glycolic Intensive Mask has 10% glycolic acid in addition to soothing aloe, rose, and pomegranate. Apply to dry skin for ten minutes and voila! Buy yours here.
Masks were my gateway to NOLASKINSENTIALS but after learning about these three I’m sure you can see why I’m a devotee. You can buy them in “Try me” sizes which have lasted me up to two months of use or commit to the full size.
Alright now that I’ve shared my faves- what are yours?
